Mr. Janaka Bandara

Janaka Bandara is a Lecturer attached to the Department of Social Work at the National Institute of Social Development, Sri Lanka. He has been serving in the department as an academic member since 2023. Commencing his academic journey as a Temporary Lecturer at the Department of Sociology, University of Peradeniya, in 2019, he has since demonstrated a profound commitment to scholarly pursuits. Janaka completed his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Peradeniya and was awarded the Mr. and Mrs. Stanley G. Abesinghe Memorial Gold Medal in Sociology and the Hilmy Manzil Memorial Prize for Sociology (Greatest Competence in Sociology) in the Special Arts Degree Examination 2018 at the University of Peradeniya. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Sociology from the same university in 2020.

Currently, he is reading a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) at the School of Social Work, NISD. With a passion for advancing social work and a commitment to academic excellence, Janaka stands at the intersection of knowledge and practical application, contributing actively to the field of Social Work through teaching and ongoing scholarly pursuits.
